Overcoming Anxiety: 5 reasons Not To Use Medication

When someone goes to a doctor for help with overcoming anxiety, they are often times given medication. Even though this might work some for a few people, there are more negatives to using these medications than there are positives.

Many people do not know this but there are many different natural ways to deal with overcoming anxiety. To help you discover which type of treatment is right for you, you will want to go over the 5 basic reasons why you should go without medication to cure anxiety.

Side Effects: With just about any medication, there are going to be side effects that come with the anxiety medications. Even though not everyone will end up suffering from a side effect, you do have a high chance of it.

Most people end up complaining of side effects such as slurred speech, blurred visions, impaired judgment, depression, drowsiness, confusion, upset stomach and even slowed reflexes. If you are taking more than one medication, there is an even greater chance you will end up with more side effects.

Cost: There are a lot of insurance companies that are now cracking down on the types and amount of medication that they will cover. This means that there are now a lot of patients that are forced to pay for their medication out of pocket.

Temporary Fix: The thing is, both doctors and patients are looking for a quick fix instead of overcoming anxiety. They are just using medications as their answer for everything.

There is no doubt that the medications do provide some relief, the problems always seem to resurface and they are usually worth than when they first came about. This is because the medications that are being prescribed are not meant for long term usage.

Are Addictive: Many of the medications that are used to treat anxiety are in fact addictive. What this means is that when someone start taking the medication, they will have a hard time stopping.

Cloudy Judgment: Having cloudy judgment is one of the main side effects, along with drowsiness. Do not make important life decisions while on this medication, drive or work without being extra cautious.

It can take some time for t his cloudy feeling to go away. With some people, it never goes away.

As you can see, there are more negative points that outweight the positive points when it comes to taking medications to try to cure anxiety.

Overcoming anxiety can be done but you will find that the medications are only a temporary fix.
