Find Out How to Identify Anxiety Symptoms vs Panic Disorder
How can one who endures any type of anxiety learn to recognize the differences between an anxiety disorder or a panic disorder. Although often bearing familiar physical and mental symptoms, there are some very definitive deviations that make them a unique disorder all of their own.
Organic Characteristics of Anxiety
One of the varying differences between a person who suffers from panic attacks and one who has a standard anxiety disorder, is that symptoms of fear are usually only exhibited during an actual episode. With a victim of anxiety disorder, they carry the feelings of despair and worry with them at all times.
Some of the most common physical sensations of generalized anxiety include tenseness throughout the body, difficulties focusing or concentrating on one thing because of other worries, and insomnia.
Symptoms of a panic attack tend to be more severe and may include difficulty breathing, lightheadedness, dizziness, uncontrollable shaking, rapid heart rate, and a variety of other sensations.
Complications in Daily Life
Many people with a mild generalized anxiety disorder can live out their normal life with small changes in their life. They may have trouble focusing and their constant worrying and nitpicking at loved ones could interfere with their personal relationships.
Severe cases can interfere considerably with the person's daily life, compromising their ability to hold down a stable job, interact with friends, or even leave their home.
Those who suffer from panic disorder live out their life in fear of the next attack. They may be scared to go into certain locations or situations for fear they will not be able to escape or will be embarrassed in the case an attack occurs. This creates even more anxiety and in many cases the fear of having an attack can actually cause an attack.
Trying to catch an attack before it is brought on, leads many victims to analyze every physical sensation they experience.
A big concern with many suffering from the standard anxiety disorder is that with all of their worrying and being ditraught, they can induce an all out attack. It is usually in cases where there may be a reason to have some concern and with the extra stressing they find themselves in a situation they can no longer manage.
If they are afraid they could find themselves in a similar situation, there could be future attacks of panic. This is why in the case of acute cases of anxiety disorder people often feel symptoms much like panic disorder although not often lasting as long or as intense.
